First Night Photos

Pink Gorilla Diaries.blogspot.com

I can't explain it. For years I have wanted a pink gorilla suit for everyday living. How would the world react? I kept mulling it over. Finally, I did it. Got the pink gorilla suit and applied it to everyday life. A pink gorilla at a bus stop. A pink gorilla in the crosswalk. A pink gorilla ordering a beer.

My best half was most humiliated at this endeavor. How could I be serious and want to do this? What was the purpose? But as soon as I put the suit on and hit the streets who was my number one fan?

So first night reflections... people do stop for a pink gorilla in a crosswalk. Parents do tell their children to "beware of the big monkey." Pink gorillas are very popular at local pubs. Pink gorillas and toy stores are not a good match. Dogs don't mind pink gorillas at all.

Upon reflection, I think something could become of this. Some people noticed my skin color, some did not. Is this how they view others? Dogs love everyone, we know this is true. Kids like me. Parents fear me. The pub crowd is pretty easy going. The law is the law, pink gorilla or not you have to stop for anything "human" in the crosswalk. Portland is weird and we love that about our city.

Stay tuned...
